Lee Ecker
Lee Ecker is a practicing dentist with over 30 years of experience. Twelve years ago, he wandered into a saddle shop with the idea of becoming a part-time apprentice to learn the art of saddle making. Unfortunately, the apprenticeship was short lived (the saddler moved to southern pastures), but Lee continued to develop his skills independently through books, videos, and anything else to advance his knowledge in the leather arts.
To further enhance his craft, Lee joined the Colorado Saddle-Makers Association in 2008. He continues to hone his craft by attending quarterly seminars. He has connected with professional saddlers with over 40 years of experience who act as both his mentors and advisors.
Lee presently has saddles that have been on display both in the Yogi Berra Museum in Montclair, NJ and at Fenway Park in Boston, MA. His Red Sox-themed saddle has been placed on permanent exhibition in the newly formed Red Sox Living Museum in Fenway Park. Lee’s collection of custom-themed saddles has included a Harley Davidson saddle, a Barnum and Bailey Circus saddle, and a U.S. Open Tennis saddle.
His passion for leather has expanded to creations of briefcases, gun belts, scabbards, decorative home accessories, and other custom made items. Through his dedication and hard work, Lee continues to develop his craft into what it truly is: an art form.
What started out as a hobby 12 years ago has developed into a passion over the last few years. Lee is open to working with you to create your own vision of artistry in leather!
